How to use the trailer coupler

2021-11-16

No matter what kind of trailer coupler, they can basically be competent for the work of road paving and anchoring trailer, but in the off-road rescue, everyone must find out how the trailer hitch is connected to the body.

The connection between the trailer coupler and the vehicle body is generally near the longitudinal beam or longitudinal beam axis in the engine compartment, because the longitudinal beam is separated on both sides of the vehicle body, and the stress condition is much stronger than the transverse beam, which can avoid the deformation of the vehicle frame.

At present, the most common on the market is the bolted trailer coupler. High strength materials and positions will be selected for the bolt hole position, such as placing the threaded buckle directly in the longitudinal beam or behind the anti-collision beam. All tension will be transmitted from the anti-collision beam to the longitudinal beam during Trailer.

Welded trailer hitch is connected with longitudinal beam by welding. In order to further improve the fixing strength, some models will be fixed with bolts in addition to welding.

Special attention should be paid to the welding position and design of welded towbar. Some models will weld the towbar directly below the spare wheel groove, while some models will weld the towbar vertically with the longitudinal beam, resulting in different stress directions of towbar and trailer rope. If the force is too large, the dean is really worried that the towbar will be pulled down.

When you are trapped in an outdoor cross-country, the trailer rescue is not just a rope. If you pull it, it will be very dangerous. The dean will teach you how to tow safely.

First, after connecting the trailer rope, the rescue vehicle shall slide forward slowly until the loose trailer rope is tight, and then start normally.

If the ground adhesion is poor, it is necessary to use the "elastic pull" method. When the trailer rope is loose, the front vehicle accelerates the forward rush to give the rear vehicle greater pull to get out of trouble. However, this requires sufficient rigidity and strength of the towbar and related parts.

Remember, be sure to put a cable flag or clothes in the middle of the trailer rope. In this way, it can play a buffering role when the trailer rope or towing hook is suddenly broken, so as to prevent the broken hook rope from hurting personnel or vehicles.
